Tequila Barbeque Sauce

Tequila Barbeque Sauce

Tequila Barbeque Sauce 4

This Tequila Barbeque Sauce is a sweet yet tangy BBQ sauce that goes great on any grilled chicken and other meats. The tequila adds a unique kick that tastes great, but best of all, it won’t get you drunk.

It’s super easy to make, and once you try it, you’ll never go back to that store bought pre-made stuff you used to like.

Here’s our cast of characters. For the tequila, use whatever strikes your fancy. My personal favorite right now is 1800 Silver. Just remember to never use a tequila that you wouldn’t drink. And make sure you sample plenty of it before you start cooking just to make sure it’s OK.

Throw the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire, garlic, mustard and paprika in a saucepan.

Use a whisk while you heat up the pan and bring it to a boil. Add the tequila and lime juice, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer. After simmering for about 10 minutes, the sauce will thicken a little, the bite from the tequila will mellow, and you’ve just made a batch of the best barbeque sauce you’re ever going to eat.

What to look for in a tequila: When picking out a good tequila, always go with one that made from 100% Blue Agave. Stay clear of any brand containing additives of any kind.

You can use this sauce on any grilled pork or beef, but it really shines on chicken. Click here to check out my Grilled Tequila Chicken Thighs Recipe.
